Yeah, the costumes and staging in Lion King were amazing. I thought the story, music, and acting were actually a bit over the top and less impressive than in the movie. But the brilliance of those puppets. My favorite is the lion with the person standing in the rear half.
Wasn't the story and music about the same?
The few slow, non-spectacle pieces were a bit of drag.
Acting wise, it just seemed "theatrical" to me, as broadway musicals usually are.
